Comparison

Waymarker compared with Yonder

You will not get a rigged comparison here. We have pointed operators at Yonder before and we will again, because for a lot of them it is the better answer. Everything below comes from each vendor's own public pages, read on 4 August 2026. If we have got something wrong, tell us and we will fix it.

Yonder is a broad customer-engagement suite for tourism operators, founded in New Zealand and owned since 2024 by TOMIS, a marketing agency in Missoula, Montana. It covers an AI chatbot, a voice agent and a review system across many booking platforms. Waymarker is the European alternative and does one thing instead: it takes a guest all the way to a paid booking on Checkfront and confirms the payment from the booking system itself, run by a Danish company with its database and backend in the EU. If you want reviews and voice, Yonder covers more ground. If you want the payment actually closed, by a supplier inside your own regulatory space, that is the whole of what we build.

Where Yonder is genuinely ahead

Starting here, because a comparison page that cannot say this is an advert.

  • They are on your platform, whatever it is. Their product page names Checkfront, FareHarbor, Rezdy, Bookeo, Peek Pro, Roller, Ventrata, Xola and Zaui among others. We support Checkfront. That is the entire list, and if you are not on it, stop reading and go and look at them.
  • They do more than chat. A review system and a voice agent ship alongside the chatbot. We have neither. If what keeps you up at night is having fewer reviews than the place down the road, we are not the fix.
  • They have the track record. Their site describes hundreds of tourism businesses using the product. We have two live venues and one guest who has paid through the agent. Weigh that honestly, and be suspicious of any early-stage supplier who will not tell you their real numbers.

Where we actually differ

Both agents read live availability and both let a guest book inside the chat. Their product page claims exactly that, and so do we. The difference is what happens after the booking exists.

We treat the payment as the job. The agent hands the guest the hosted payment page and then confirms the booking as paid by reading the status back from the booking system. Until the booking system says paid, the guest is told the booking is still open. We could find no claim on Yonder's public pages that their chatbot completes payment, which is not the same as saying it cannot. If that has changed, this page is wrong and we want to know.

Depth over breadth is a real trade, not a slogan. Supporting one platform is why we can tell you that Checkfront's guest-count parameter is per item and its invoice pay link is off by default. Both cost a live venue money before we caught them.

Where each company sits, and why that is not a throwaway line

Yonder was founded in New Zealand and has been owned since 2024 by TOMIS, a marketing agency in Missoula, Montana. Their own about page says so. We are a Danish company, and your database and our backend sit in the EU.

Two fair caveats, because the scare version of this argument is dishonest and you should not accept it from us either. First, New Zealand holds an EU adequacy decision, reaffirmed by the Commission in January 2024, so sending personal data there is perfectly lawful. Second, we are not a pure-EU stack and will not pretend to be: conversation text goes to Anthropic and OpenAI, both US companies, and our email supplier is US as well. Every subprocessor and its region is listed on our security page.

What survives both caveats still matters. Your contract is with a company in your own regulatory space, in a timezone that overlaps your working day, so a Tuesday-morning problem gets answered on Tuesday morning. The AI Act makes us the provider and you the deployer, so some duties land on you whatever you buy, and we have done that reading. And you can read our full data map before you sign anything. We found no mention of GDPR, data location or the AI Act on the Yonder pages we read, which is not evidence of a problem, only that we could not check.

Which one to pick

Choose Yonder if

You are not on Checkfront, or you want reviews and a voice agent from one supplier, or you want a vendor with hundreds of operators behind it. Those are good reasons and we are not going to argue you out of them.

Choose Waymarker if

You run on Checkfront and what actually hurts is bookings that stall at the payment step, after hours, when nobody can pick up the phone. Or you want an EU supplier, an EU-hosted database, a published subprocessor list and the AI Act reading already done.

Choose neither yet if

Nobody is trying to book outside your staffed hours. An agent earns its keep on the enquiries you are currently missing. If you are catching all of them, it will not pay for itself and you should keep your money.

Questions

Can I run both?

Technically yes, they are separate embeds. In practice two chat widgets on one page is a worse experience than either alone, so pick one.

Do you integrate with Rezdy, Bokun or FareHarbor?

Not today. The booking integration sits behind an internal adapter so another platform is a build rather than a rewrite, but nothing beyond Checkfront is live and we will not pretend otherwise.

How do you price it?

We are not publishing a price list while we are this early, because we do not yet know enough to defend one. Apply below and we will talk about what your booking volume actually justifies.

Is this page biased?

Of course it is, we wrote it. That is why every claim about Yonder is linked to their own public page with the date we read it, so you can check the ones that matter to you rather than taking our word for it.
